a Photographer’s trip to Yellowstone

I’ve had the privilege of meeting some wonderful photographers over the years.  Back in 2006 I joined a photography group on cafemom and met a great group of women.  Most of us left cafemom for facebook and we’ve stayed in touch that way.   This year was the first year that a get together was arranged and I was lucky enough to get to go!  There were 4 of us total that were able to attend.  The others stayed in a nice cabin right in Jackson, and since I brought my nursling with we stayed at a nearby motel.  It took me almost 8 hours to drive with a 15 month old in tow, and he did great the whole way.  I was only able to stay one full day but we packed it full of activities.  We were able to see Old Faithful which was probably the least beautiful part of the park.  My favorite part was seeing the prismatic springs, the colors are amazing!

We spent the whole day on the road driving from place to place just to get it all in.  On the way home I managed to get pulled over TWICE!  It sure made for a fun trip though.  The second time was around 11:30pm, the state trooper pulled me over for the same reasons (burned out headlight and brake light).  His first words when he reached my window were, “are you a HAM radio operator?”.  In fact, I am, but our license places reflect my husband’s call sign KF9MG.  He takes my license and when he returns back he responds, “is that a geocaching decal on your car?”.  In fact, it is!  Then he called us NERDS, but let me go and reminded me to stop by his geocache at the entrance (which I never had time to do since I took a different route home).   We managed to make it back to Jackson around midnight, and I’m thankful that Avery did awesome most of the day.

Thanks to Kelley, Angelica, and Niki for attending and allowing me to bring the boob tick along.  I had a great time and can’t wait until next year’s trip!!  Here are some memories of the trip.
