I have decided to make Mini-Maternity Sessions add-on sessions (meaning they’re cheaper when booked with any other session).  Maternity sessions don’t always have to be a full hour session, which is why a mini session is perfect for when you just want a few images for the wall or photo album.  These are great paired with some beautiful belly Henna by Angela!

This maternity session was extra special since this is my cousin (in-law).  I drove out from WY so I can photograph the birth any day/week now and we had enough time to get a 38 week maternity session in too.  Check back for blessingway photos after Saturday!

I ended up doing her shoot over 2 days since our first attempt had drab lighting.. I really wanted to get some with better light!

I’ve been thinking of including a mini lifestyle maternity session with all Birth packages, so Lori got to be my first.  I always try to plan a 36ish week apt to go over any last things, see where they’re birthing, and collect any remaining payments so I’ve been thinking of including some pictures while I’m there.  Sometimes I’m able to attend the appointment along with the midwives 36 week in home visit so I try to get a few of the actual appointment too.  This time I showed up a little early to tour the house, snap a few pictures and stayed while the midwives (Beth and Abra) did vitals.  The great thing about doing this is being able to test out the lighting in the house BEFORE the actual birth.  Of course if she were having a hospital birth it wouldn’t make a difference, in which case we’d probably meet at a park.  Either way, it’s something nice to include.

Lori is just stunning.  She’s what I imagine when people talk about the pregnant glow.  The boys were being cute and showing off for me, clearly not camera shy!

At our last photographer get together I got to meet Janelle, who’s due to have baby #2 in a few weeks.  I had the idea to make our next meetup a maternity session for Janelle.  We picked a date and whoever was able to make it would be able to practice shooting maternity.  She ended up getting 5 maternity shoots in 1, I think everyone should have multiple photographers!  I ran out of time to think of a nice way to keep it organized so we would all be able to shoot and her family wouldn’t have to wonder which direction to look.  We were basically all shooting her at the same time so I’m guessing everyone else had a lot of shots where someone was looking at someone else.  It was still a lot of fun and especially fun to see how everyone else photographs and processes the images.  Janelle is also a photographer so it made it a little intimidating to be doing her session!

A while back Loraine contacted me about photographing her birth.  Unfortunately I am traveling back to WI for Christmas and there’s a great chance that I’ll miss it!  We decided to go ahead with a maternity shoot and if I’m home while she’s in labor I’ll head to Laramie to photograph the birth too.  These are a few of my favorites from her mini session in my studio.  The plan was to get a few of her and her husband this weekend but the snow has made things a little drab so we’ll have to plan another day for outdoor images..

I had the opportunity to photograph Masha and her husband a few weeks ago, and i’m just now blogging it.  Masha was a beautiful 32 weeks and a pleasure to photograph.  I did this maternity session in their Denver home and the outdoor shot is from their backyard.  Denver is only 1.5 hours from us so it’s nothing for us to head down for the day and enjoy a mall, museum, or park.  So.. here are my favorite maternity images from Masha’s session.
